Decision on Purchase of Specified Difficult Recovery Claims (fifth purchase)

At the 246th meeting of the Policy Board today, it was decided that the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan (DICJ) would purchase specified difficult recovery claims (fifth purchase) based on Article 101-2, Paragraph (3) of the Deposit Insurance Act as follows:


  1. Date of the decision on the purchase: October 28, 2014 (Tuesday)
  2. Number of claims to be purchased: 13 claims (1 claim for 1 debtor)
  3. Total amount of claims to be purchased: ¥143,421,000
  4. Total purchase value:  ¥23,557,000

Reference 1:
Of the 13 claims included in the current purchase, the measures to improve the system announced by the DICJ on December 26 last year are applicable to 2 claims which repayment is ongoing in accordance with the contracts, 5 claims to which debt guarantee is provided by a guarantee corporation, and 5 claims which a financial institution has bought back from a guarantee corporation.

Reference 2:
The decision on the next purchase (sixth purchase) is expected to be made at the end of March next year (2015).
