International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), of which DICJ is a founding member, marks the 20th Anniversary this year. As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration, IADI organized the “International Deposit Insurance Week” from 5 to 9 September 2022 and held the International Conference under the theme “Enhancing deposit Insurance and promoting financial stability around the world: building on the past, preparing for the future…” on 6 and 7 September 2022 (hybrid format).
Mr. Hidenori Mitsui, Governor of the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan (DICJ), delivered a presentation titled “Deposit Insurance, Financial Stability and IADI: the look ahead – From the DICJ’s Perspective”. He began his presentation by touching on the emergence of bubble economy in the 1980s and Japan’s experience of financial crisis in the 90s, and presented an overview of the resolution scheme in Japan and the role of the DICJ. He went on to refer to potential risk factors in the future such as the declining and aging population, low interest rates, development of financial technologies and climate change, and concluded his presentation by emphasizing the importance of sharing knowledge and experience through IADI’s network.
